Our company driver-guide will meet you at Kigali International Airport and transfer you to your booked Accommodation to rest. This optional service depends on your arrival time and carries an extra cost.
Day 2: City Tour and Genocide Memorial Visit
Eat an early breakfast before transferring to Kigali for a city tour. You will pay a visit to the genocide museum, the Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi, which has collections of the consequences of the genocide of 1994. From there, head back to your Hotel for a relaxed overnight stay.
Accommodation: Okapi Hotel, a budget Hotel in Kigali. Meals: Half board.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest and Canopy Walk
Eat breakfast at 6:00 am before transferring to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Visit the old palace in Nyanza on your way, then enjoy a canopy walk in the afternoon. The canopy walkway in the Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwestern Rwanda is 50m above ground level and 90m long. The dizzying platform sits above a steep, deep valley, surrounded by a massive forest.
The 200m walkway with three towers is the biggest in East Africa! Spread over hundreds of square meters, Nyungwe is said to be the largest and most ancient afro-montane forest remaining in East & Central Africa, dating back to the last ice age.
Accommodation: Nyungwe Top Hill View Hotel, a mid-range Hotel located just outside Nyungwe NP (Chimps, Rwanda).
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Have an early morning breakfast, and later proceed to Nyungwe Forest at 6:00 am to search for chimpanzees.
You will also track Colobus monkeys in the forest and have a chance to see other forest inhabitants, such as birds, reptiles, and butterflies.
Chimpanzee tracking will enable you to meet man’s closest cousins in the wild. You will be amazed to see these primates as they play, swing on tree branches, and fight for food, which is an amazing experience.
Accommodation: Gorilla Solution Lodge, a mid-range Lodge located just outside Volcanoes NP (Gorillas, Rwanda).
Meals & Drinks: We include all meals and provide drinking water, but you must pay for other drinks separately.
Day 5: Mount Bisoke Hiking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On this day, you will have breakfast and, at 7:00 am, transfer to Kinigi, the briefing point, with the hiking group and assigned rangers.
Mount Bisoke stands at 3700m, with the typical conical shape of a “perfect” volcano, and its crater contains a deep lake.
For those interested in climbing Mount Bisoke, the volcano is not exceptionally demanding, but it is nevertheless a tough hike. The high elevation demands extra strength from climbers, and the whole excursion can take between 5 hours and a full day, depending on the pace and the number of stops. The ascent typically takes around 3 hours.
During the climb, you will cross a series of different vegetation habitats, starting with bamboo forests, then moving into Hagenia-Hypericum forest and finally moving through Seneci-Lobelia bush near the summit.
You will then descend and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in western Uganda.
Accommodation: Gorilla Mist Camp, a mid-range Lodge bordering Bwindi NP (Gorillas, Uganda).
Day 6: Gorilla Tracking and Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast and a briefing by Park Ranger guides, depart with picnic lunch boxes to start the trek.
The activity can last up to 4 hours or longer to find the mountain gorillas, as you hike up and down slippery slopes through dense, mist-covered vegetation.
Hence, you will have a packed lunch for this activity. This active quest will eventually bring you face-to-face with one of the most sought-after creatures, the mountain gorilla.
Upon reaching them, you will have a full hour to observe and learn their behaviour through behaviour photos. Later on, you’ll transfer to Lake Mburo National Park for your overnight stay just outside the Park.
Accommodation: Rwakobo Rock Lodge, a mid-range Lodge located just outside Lake Mburo NP (Uganda).
Day 7: morning Game Drive and Departure via Equator
After having an early breakfast, go for a morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. This Park is famous for zebras, impalas, giraffes, elands, Cape buffaloes, and many tropical bird species.
Check out of the Hotel and transfer to Entebbe International Airport to catch your evening flight back home. We recommend that you book an evening flight as you say farewell to the Pearl of Africa! But along the way, you will stop at the Equator to get an authentic feel for standing at Latitude 00.
