5 Day Primate Safari Bwindi Gorillas and Kibale Chimpanzee Trek in Uganda

This 5 Day Primate Safari for Bwindi Gorillas and Kibale Chimpanzee Trek in Uganda combines the Gorilla trek in Bwindi Forest and the Kibale Chimpanzee Trek in the Kibale Forest of Uganda, available throughout the year.

Day 1: Depart for Kibale Forest Park

At around 7:30 am, we depart Kampala or Entebbe and head westwards in Uganda to Kibale Forest Park, a drive of about 6-7 hours. You will probably have a lunch break in Fort Portal town, then check into the Lodge for rest and overnight.

Accommodation: Isunga Lodge, primate Lodge, Kibale forest camp.

5 Day Primate Safari for Bwindi Gorillas and Kibale Chimpanzee Trek in UgandaDay 2: It is the Chimpanzee Tracking Day.

Have an early breakfast and then leave for Kibale Park at 7 am. It’s the chimpanzee tracking day, we will need to be at the Kanyanchu visitor centre no later than 8:00 am for the pre-track briefing, as your guide will arrange all the schedules.

Then return to the Lodge for lunch, and at 2 pm, take a guided Nature walk in Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary with an expert guide to help you spot more of the amazing vegetation, trees, flowers, and greenery that are so colourful. It’s a perfect place for Birders.

Day 3: Travel day to Bwindi Gorilla Forests

After a big breakfast, we set off for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as we drive through the Ishasha plains for the tree-climbing lions. Here we have a game drive in the best place in Africa to see the tree-climbing lions. Have lunch along the way, and later check in to your Lodge in Bwindi Park.

5 Day Primate Safari for Bwindi Gorillas and Kibale Chimpanzee Trek in UgandaDay 4: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking

The Big day awaits in the Bwindi forests for the Gorilla Tracking. You will need to eat enough breakfast before 8 am, as you check in at the wildlife centre for the pre-briefing.

The Gorilla trek can last 5 hours or longer, depending on which group you are tracking. As you know, gorillas move daily, and before you even go on the trek, they are moving.

After tracking, you have the choice between a Nature walk and a visit to Lake Bunyonyi for exploration and relaxation, with additional optional activities.

Day 5: Travel day to Kampala or Entebbe

Have breakfast, return to Kampala, including a lunch break, and stop to visit the Equator.
