An 8 Day Primates, Gorillas, and Wildlife Uganda Vacation typically covers the “southwestern circuit,” which is home to the country’s most iconic national parks. We designed this timeframe as an ideal, focused highlights tour. It allows you to track both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees while exploring savannah habitats in search of large game.

Day 1. Transfer to Murchison Falls Park en route to Rhino Sanctuary
Your safari in Uganda will begin with a drive north to Murchison Falls National Park. With a hot lunch en route, prepare yourselves for the breathtaking scenery and a short nature walk to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Masindi.
The guided nature walk in the sanctuary brings you up close with the endangered rhinos. In the evening, arrive at the national Park and transfer directly to your Lodge for dinner and overnight at your Accommodation preference.

Day 2: Activities in Murchison Falls Park
After an early morning breakfast, enjoy an early game drive and enjoy some of the vast array of game animals like giraffes, elephants and buffalo that roam the Park. Return to Lodge for Lunch.
In the afternoon, take a Boat Launch upstream to the foot of the thundering Murchison Falls, offering great photo opportunities of this marvel of nature. Also, along the banks of the River, you will be able to see animals like Hippos, crocodiles, and unique bird species for the avid Bird watchers.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forests
After an early breakfast, leave Murchison Falls and travel toward Fort Portal. Traverse the Great Rift Valley and enjoy clear views of the Rwenzori Mountain ranges as you progress toward town. After lunch en route, take an evening nature walk in Bigodi before checking into your preferred Accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and later Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park
An early breakfast, continue to the Chimpanzee Tracking Headquarters for a briefing, and open to meet up with the world’s 99% Human Apes. Chimpanzees are also one of the largest primates in the world.
After you’re back, have lunch and continue further down following the mystical mountain ranges to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an afternoon safari by boat on the Kazinga channel connecting both Lake George and Edward. This evening, spend the time off at leisure and later prepare for dinner and overnight at Accommodation of your choice.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi via the Ishasha Sector
Have your morning Game Drive on the northern side of the Park, then set off for Bwindi Gorilla National Park, driving through the Ishasha sector, the area famed for the tree-climbing lions.
As you drive through, you may have the chance to see wildlife, including tree-climbing lions. Then drive to Bwindi Forests to your Lodge at leisure for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Bwindi – Gorilla Tracking Day
You will need a Daypack, 2 litres of water, jeans, a long-sleeved shirt, a hat, sunglasses, and tough cotton gardening gloves to help you pull yourself up onto branches and vines. A light Rain jacket and hiking boots are best for your Gorilla Trek adventure. You can buy a walking stick and use a porter to carry your things if you so wish (optional) – the latter two are optional and not included in the safari price.
The Gorilla Trek can last five or more hours, depending on your assigned group. Gorillas move daily, so pre-trackers locate your specific gorilla family before you even begin. This evening, we will drive to Lake Bunyonyi for an overnight stay. If we arrive early in the afternoon, you can enjoy the stunning views or choose to take a boat cruise on the lake.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.
This morning, leave Lake Bunyonyi and drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Have Lunch in Mbarara, then connect to Lake Mburo for an Evening game drive.
Accommodation: Rwakobo Rock Or Eagles Nest Tents
Day 8: Transfer back to Entebbe/ Kampala.
This morning, have breakfast and take a Nature Walk with a Park Ranger, then transfer back to Kampala with lunch en route and wonderful photo opportunities at the equator. We reserve this day for evening flights through Entebbe International Airport. The itinerary includes no Accommodation for tonight.
