8 Day Chimpanzee Gorilla Trek with Sabinyo Hikes and Lake Bunyonyi Safari
The 8 Day Chimpanzee Gorilla Trek with Sabinyo Hikes and Lake Bunyonyi Safari offers a more exclusive experience than most primate tours. You will track Chimpanzees and Mountain Gorillas, then top off the excitement by spotting beautiful Golden Monkeys.
Day 1: Drive to Kibale National Park
Early breakfast, then at 7:00 am leave for Kibale Park, driving to Fort Portal, where we shall stop for lunch and proceed to explore the Bigodi Wetlands for some primates and birdlife. Check into your Lodge, chill, have dinner, and get some rest.
Accommodation: Primate Lodge, Kibale Forest Camp.
Day 2: It’s the chimpanzee tracking day.
Breakfast at the Lodge. Proceed to the starting point at the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre no later than 8:00 am for the Tracking Briefing. Your Guide will provide all necessary information about the day’s schedule. And if you want to do a Habituation Experience, there’s an extra fee for staying more than 4 hours with the Chimps.
Day 3: A drive to Bwindi Forest for Mountain Gorillas.
Have breakfast, then we set off for the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, into the Rushaga Section. We will drive for about 6 – 7 hours as we head southwest.
Day 4: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking Day.
Start your day with a hearty breakfast for this major highlight. Pack the required accessories listed below. The Gorilla Trek can take five or more hours, depending on your assigned group. Keep in mind that gorillas move daily, even before you begin tracking. Afterwards, take a three-hour drive to Kisoro town, located near Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Day 5: The Sabinyo Mountain Hike.
Today, we will arrange for a wildlife Ranger to lead the Sabinyo Gorge Trail hike, tailored to fit the afternoon. This trail is a hotspot for birdwatchers and offers sightings of Golden Monkeys, Duikers, Rwenzori Turacos, and other mammals along the way.
Day 6: Track the Golden Monkeys this morning.
Have breakfast and get off for the exciting adventure with the golden monkey trekking in the Bamboo forests of the Volcanoes. There, you encounter a large number of the rarest endangered Golden Monkeys, only found in Mgahinga Gorilla Park, as they flit over and near. Afterwards, have lunch and continue to Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 7: Lake Bunyonyi Exploitation
This morning, have breakfast and embark on the morning Boat Canoe trek with hill climbs.
Day 8: Return To Kampala or Entebbe.
We embark on our drive to Kampala via Mbarara for lunch and an equator stop, then head to Entebbe for an evening flight.
