Details of the Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi
Our representative will be at the airport waiting for you, and upon arrival, head straight to your safari vehicle for the journey to Bwindi in southwestern Uganda. There will be stopovers during this 7-9-hour journey at various tour attractions and for lunch as you drive towards your destination.
Driving through the countryside is a rewarding experience, as you enjoy the fresh African air and the beautiful vegetation along the roadside. A drive through the flat Ankole and the Kigezi hills as you approach Bwindi is another amazing experience, as you take in the area’s scenic views.
Arrive at the Lodge within the Park and get ready for the major highlight of the trip, meeting face to face with the forest giants, the mountain gorilla, and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking
After an early breakfast at the Lodge, you will drive off to the briefing point in the Park, where other visitors gather to have a guide on the Gorilla trekking rules. Then divide into groups of 8 based on your abilities to make the trek more impressive and fun.
A guide will then lead you into the jungles and get on the journey, trekking through the dense forest in search of the habituated Mountain Gorillas. After meeting the Gorillas, you will have a chance to watch the behaviour of these giant apes as they feed and go about their daily activities under the guidance of the silverback. This whole experience will last for an hour as your guide shares more insights into their general behaviour in their natural habitat.
Return to your starting point after this amazing adventure, and drive to your Lodge for lunch, depending on the time of return. Chat the evening away as you refresh your memories watching the sunset. Dinner and overnight will be at your accommodation.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi –Island Tour
Have breakfast at your Lodge in the morning, then embark on a journey to Lake Bunyonyi, located a few kilometres from Bwindi. Check in at the Lodge and immediately head out to explore the beautiful Islands by canoe for birding and to learn about their great history.
You can also opt for activities like swimming in this Crocodile-Free waterbody. Lake Bunyonyi is also known for its birdlife, which you can see on your visit to the different islands.
Return to your Lodge later for lunch, then head out for a community tour to interact with locals and learn about their livelihood. Enjoy traditional performances by local groups and take part in activities like basket weaving. Retire at the Lodge later for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Explore Bunyonyi and Departure
The day starts with a tasty breakfast at the Lodge and the enjoyment of the sunrise. Explore more of Lake Bunyonyi and take part in optional activities, including swimming, nature walks, birdwatching, and ziplining. Thereafter, check out and start the drive headed to Kampala.
You will have a stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre to explore the Ankole culture, have lunch, and purchase a Souvenir. Proceed to Kampala, then head to Entebbe International Airport for your flight home.
