6 Day Kidepo Valley and Murchison Falls Safari
The Best 6 Day Kidepo Valley and Murchison Falls Safari combines all of Uganda’s Best Game Parks and wilderness safaris, with ultimate game drives, chimpanzee trekking, and rhino safaris, visiting Kidepo Valley National Park and Murchison Falls National Park.
Day 1: Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park
After early morning breakfast, set off for a 13-hour journey to Kidepo, passing through Mabira forest, the white nile, the home of Mount Elgon, Tororo,o and later in the evening, arrive at the beautiful Park where you will not only see a large number of animals but also have an 80% chance of seeing all the animals in the Park.
Stop for lunch in Mbale, where you will overlook the beautiful, solidly standing mountain Elgon en route to the Park, where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2: Safari Game Drives in Kidepo Park
After morning breakfast, set out to explore the only Park in Uganda with not only cheetahs but also where you have an 80% chance of seeing wild cats. On this game drive, you will see many giraffes, lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, kobs, bushbucks, and primates such as baboons and monkeys.
After lunch, you will relax as you enjoy beautiful views from your Hotel, and then set off for an evening game drive to Kabale Rock, one of the most famous rocks in the Park. Here you will have a physical encounter with wild cats, such as cheetahs and lions, as they come out to start their day.
Day 3: morning Game Drive and Karamojong Visit.
After morning breakfast, set out to explore the only Park in Uganda with not only cheetahs, but also where you have an 80% chance of seeing wild cats.
On this game drive, you will see many giraffes, lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, kobs, bushbucks, and primates such as baboons and monkeys. Later in the evening, we visit the Karamojong local communities.
Day 4: Transfer to Murchison Falls Park
Have an early morning breakfast and set off for Murchison Falls National Park. Enjoy beautiful scenery as you pass through villages, see plains and Karamojong homesteads, meet the Karamojong people along the way, and Pass Kraals and farms.
Stop at Gulu for lunch and proceed to Murchison Falls National Park, passing through Pakwach, where you will have an en-route game drive and dinner in your Hotel of choice.
Day 5: Activities in Murchison Falls
Do an early morning game drive of 4-5 hours to catch up with the nocturnal animals like lions and leopards before they retire for the day. You will not only see part of the big five, such as elephants, buffalo, lions, and leopards, but also herbivorous wildlife like giraffes, warthogs, antelopes, and bushbucks, as well as birds like African darters, Goliath herons, yellow-billed storks, and shoebills, among others.
After that, return for an early lunch, and later proceed for a 3-4 hour boat cruise along the Nile, upstream from Paraa to the bottom of the falls. Along the way, you will encounter a couple of animals ranging from crocodiles and hippos to water snakes.
You are supposed to hike up to the top of Murchison Falls. Expect to be fit for the trek. This journey is full of beautiful scenery that will leave you not only mesmerised but also lens-excited. And because of that, keep your cameras on standby to capture all the beautiful moments.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking and Return to Kampala
After an early morning breakfast, set off to Budongo Forest for a briefing and embark on a 3-4 hour chimp tracking experience. In the forest, you will not only encounter several unique tree species but also birds, primates and reptiles. You will spend an hour with the chimps, then retire for lunch. Drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to spend 2-3 hours, then continue to Kampala/drop-off point.
