8 Days Primate Safaris offers a signature East African experience, focusing on tracking endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees in Uganda and Rwanda. You will traverse iconic rainforests and volcanic mountain ranges, enjoying a mix of trekking, wildlife viewing, and cultural encounters. The journey takes you to Kibale National Park—home to 13 primate species—for chimpanzee tracking and the Bigodi swamp walk. In Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will join a lion experience, followed by gorilla tracking in Bwindi.
Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your driver will transfer you to the Hotel for overnight Accommodation.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park.
After an early morning breakfast, drive towards Fort Portal with fantastic views of the ancient volcanic landscape and the Rwenzori mountains—dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp Walk
Morning chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale forest, tracking chimpanzee in their natural habitat and then in the afternoon, tour the Bigodi wetland sanctuary looking for birds, plants, animals, etc. Dinner and Overnight.
Day 4: Transfer To Queen Elizabeth National Park.
After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, with fantastic views of the Rwenzori Mountains. Arrive at the Lodge, then go on an evening game drive in search of lions, leopards, buffalo, antelopes, and various bird species—dinner and overnight.
Day 5: morning Game Drive, Afternoon Boat Trip.
Enjoy an early morning game drive to search for morning kills and nocturnal animals. Later, return to the Lodge for lunch before embarking on a two-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This 40km waterway connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is home to one of Africa’s largest hippo populations. You will also see herds of elephants, buffalo, and other animals coming to the water to drink before you return for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 6: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Depart for Bwindi Forest and enjoy a morning game drive to search for tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. After lunch, proceed to your Accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Gorilla Tracking.
Have an early breakfast, then drive to the starting point for a briefing before beginning your gorilla-tracking experience. We advise you to bring a packed lunch. You will return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Drive back to Entebbe or Kampala.
On this final day of your trip, eat breakfast, then drive to Entebbe or Kampala, depending on your schedule.
